Dynamic Still Lives

The more overwhelming life's challenges feel, the more difficult our situation seems, the more compelling and consoling is beauty.

The colourful delicacy and indifferent stillness of flowers feel like an island in a sea of disappointment.

Working with broad pallet knives and largely with the non-dominant hand favoured sweeping movements and disallowed an overly accurate or detailed depiction.

With time, the dynamic still lives took on an increasingly erotic flavour, eventually leading on to the more figurative works in Erotica and….
