At the end of 2021, I left the UK, which had been my home for nearly 30 years. Returning to the country of my birth, by now an alien culture, unleashed a maelstrom of emotional, social and physical challenges. It raised questions of identity, home, linguistic belonging and purpose in life. The paintings created between 2021 and 2023 bear witness to this drastic life change.
